Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you — the parent or legal guardian opening an account — and Passionate Research LLC, a Virginia limited liability company trading as PassionProject ("we", "us").

Only an adult of 18 or over may open an account or agree to these terms. A student never agrees to them; their parent does, on their behalf.

Passionate Research LLC is independent of and separate from Next in Research. Our founders' work with that program is part of their experience and nothing more; Next in Research is not a party to this agreement and has no role in the service.

We provide mentorship: scheduled sessions with a mentor, a written project timeline and to-do list kept by that mentor, a weekly written update by email, curated resources, and access to this website for booking and progress.

The specific number and length of sessions is set by the plan you choose and is listed in full on our pricing page at the time you subscribe.

We prepare students to submit their work and to enter competitions. We do not promise any result that follows from an entry, and no one acting for us is authorised to promise one.

We do not promise admission to any school or program, any award, any grade, any placement, or any particular standard of work produced by a student. Outcomes depend on the student's own effort and on decisions made by third parties we do not control.

If anyone representing us tells you otherwise, that statement is not part of this agreement and you should tell us at hello@passionprojects.app.

You open a parent account first. A student account can only be created after a subscription is active, and only by you, on the set-up screen you reach once your plan is active. You choose your child's password and pass it to them; your child then confirms their own email address before their dashboard opens.

You are responsible for what happens under your family's accounts, including your child's. Keep the passwords private and tell us promptly if you think either has been used by someone else.

You agree the information you give us is accurate — in particular your child's grade and age, which determine how we handle their information.

Prices are shown in full on the pricing page before you pay, in US dollars, and are the only prices we charge. Payment is taken by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.

A monthly plan is a subscription. It renews automatically each month at the same price, and keeps renewing until you cancel. You may cancel at any time before the next renewal, from the billing portal linked in your Settings, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.

A five-month plan is a single payment covering five months. It does not renew automatically, and when it ends nothing further is charged unless you choose to start again. It carries the fourteen-day full refund described below.

If a payment fails, we may pause sessions until it is resolved. We will tell you before we do.

A five-month prepaid term is refundable in full within the first fourteen days, including the sessions those days include.

A monthly plan can be cancelled at any time before the next renewal. We do not refund part-months.

Our full refund and cancellation terms are set out in the Refund and Cancellation Policy, which forms part of this agreement.

Sessions are booked through the calendar in your dashboard. Please give your mentor at least twenty-four hours' notice to move a session.

A session missed without that notice is counted as held, but only from the fourth occurrence — the first three are simply rescheduled.

If a mentor misses a session without giving twenty-four hours' notice, it is rescheduled and it does not count against your plan.

Everything your child creates — their research, writing, data, and any project they build — belongs to them. We claim no ownership of it and we do not license it from you.

We will not publish, display, or use your child's work or name in marketing without your separate written permission, which you may refuse or withdraw at any time without affecting your subscription.

The website itself, our templates, and our curriculum materials remain ours. You may use them freely for your child's own work while you are enrolled; please do not redistribute or resell them.

Use the service for its purpose. Do not attempt to access another family's information, disrupt the service, misrepresent who you are, or use the service to harass anyone.

We may suspend or end an account for behaviour that puts a student, a mentor, or another family at risk. Where we do that and you have prepaid, we will refund the unused portion.

You may stop at any time by cancelling in the billing portal. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.

We may end this agreement by giving you notice, and will refund any unused prepaid portion if we do so for any reason other than the acceptable-use section above.

We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim connected with this agreement is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

If we change these terms in a way that materially affects you, we will tell you by email at least thirty days beforehand and record a new version here. If you do not accept the change, you may cancel before it takes effect and we will refund any unused prepaid portion.

This agreement is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the courts of that state have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from it.
